Our time in Phuket was a little wetter than planned. We caught the tail end of the devastating cyclone which hit Burma, but thankfully a bit of "power-shower" rain for 2 days was as bad as it got for us. And finally we arrived in Cairns...the most north we will be going in our Aus travels. We intend to use Cairns as a base for exploring the surrounding areas including Kuranda, Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge and fitting in a bit of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. From Noosa we headed via Rockhampton to Airlie Beach. Here we caught a ferry to Daydream Island and spent a wonderful 3 nights lapping up the beauty of the Whitsundays including sailing on an 85-foot catamaran for our 2nd wedding anniversary. Some pics are available here.

One of the favourite parts of our Aus experience to date - Noosa and Fraser Island. We chilled out in beautiful Noosa for 4 days, then headed off to Fraser Island for lots of 4X4, lake and beach fun! Managed to meet a cheeky dingo or two on our travels. Some great pics can be seen here.

After spending a couple of days in Brisbane we decided to focus our attention on the Sunshine Coast but first managed to fit in a bit of the Gold Coast by spending a day at Sea World near Surfers Paradise and then headed north to spend a day at the Australia (Steve Irwin) Zoo. From Kaikoura we headed to Christchurch where we collected "Larry" our campervan. We then headed straight on to Akaroa to find some dolphins to swim with. Unfortunately the dolphins didn't want to come and play with us so we left Akaroa slightly forlorn but with an idea of coming back towards the end of our NZ travels.Pics of the area can be seen here

After the city of Auckland, we headed Northwest to the idyllic Bay of Islands to a little resort called Paihia. Unbeknown to us, it was Waitangi Day on the 6th Feb so we were able to absorb a bit of Maori culture and history as well as enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. Some pics can be seen here.

Tonight was my bachelors aka stag. It was a cracker!! much fun had by all and sundry. I think I made a lot of people smile today, wearing the funny outfit and talking to random people. Friday 15th July 2005 - I proposed to the lovely Fiona Ramsay and we are now engaged to be married. Hopefully in the first half of 2006 if all goes well.Thank you to all the kind wishes from friends and family.We are pretty chuffed to say the least.

It was a weekend of ups and downs ending with an up at least. Golf game on Friday afternoon was also one of ups and downs with the rain coming down and our scores going up. Although I did manage a few pars on both 9's. Cricket game on Saturday was a big downer - 44 all out! And I got a duck! No comment. Well - another amazing story reported in todays metro newspaper. A school in Dorset wants to ban girls from wearing skirts and a mother was up in arms because trousers are "unhealthy". Oh my word - no wonder so many blokes have regular sick days. Its all the trousers we are wearing!is it me?

I read on the back page of Computing that a pressure group is suggesting all UK prisoners NEED universal internet access to make sure they get the most of online educational resources. What? Excuse me? Sorry!I thought they were prisoners. And then the government wonders why companies shift jobs to cheaper countries when we are wasting money on things like this... only my opinion of course.
