Singapore (14th - 17th May)
And then a slightly longer stop in Singapore for much of the same (shopping and sightseeing) and of course a Singapore Sling at the world-famous Raffles Hotel. Pics can be seen here.
Phuket (Thailand) (8th - 12th May)
Our time in Phuket was a little wetter than planned. We caught the tail end of the devastating cyclone which hit Burma, but thankfully a bit of "power-shower" rain for 2 days was as bad as it got for us. When the sun did come out, however, we enjoyed lazing around the pool and exploring the local town and markets. Our plans for scuba diving and island hopping will have to be set aside for our next visit when the sea swells are a little smaller!!!
Pics of this visit, however, can be seen here.
Ko Tao (Thailand) (5th - 8th May)
Ko Tao - What a little gem!
We managed to find a fab new resort nestled high up on a hillside with the most amazing views - see the pics here.
We wish we had had longer here, but the time we did have was spent scuba diving and soaking up the sun and the breathtaking views.

Ko Samui (Thailand) (30th April - 5th May)
Our time in Ko Samui was serious chill time as can be seen by these lovely pics.
Thankfully, we stayed in a quiet resort away from the touristy hubbub of central Chaweng - and spent our days lazing by the pool and beach, sipping cocktails. Its a hard life :o)

Chiang Mai (Thailand) (25th - 30th April)
Chiang Mai was brilliant. We loved the elephants, the people and the food. But especially the elephants!
Check out the cool pics.
Bangkok (Thailand) (22nd - 25th April)
The crazy city which is Bangkok was our home for a couple of days which we spent seeing some sights and some interesting shops and people.
Here are the pics.
Perth (Oz) (19th - 22nd April)
We arrived in Perth just after 2 in the morning to get the cheapest flight out of Cairns. Fell fast asleep in another nice hotel room and then spent the next few days checking out the beaches and sights of Perth.
Check out our pics here.

Our adventures around Cairns (Oz) (13th - 18th April)
Well, we didnt do too badly in regards to seeing Australia's finest predators!
While snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef we spotted a white-tipped reef shark!! Funny how, after the initial exhilaration, Fi decided that she had had enough water-based activities for the day. :o) Fortunately, we had already fitted in two fabulous scuba-dives during the morning.
Predator number two, aka SCARFACE, Daintree River's (rather large) resident croc was spotted during our day to Mossman Gorge, Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation.
Some pics can be seen here.

Cairns and Kuranda (Oz) (10th - 13th April)
And finally we arrived in Cairns...the most north we will be going in our Aus travels. We intend to use Cairns as a base for exploring the surrounding areas including Kuranda, Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge and fitting in a bit of scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Some pics of Cairns and Kuranda can be seen here.
Airlie Beach and Whitsundays (Oz) (5th - 10th April)
From Noosa we headed via Rockhampton to Airlie Beach. Here we caught a ferry to Daydream Island and spent a wonderful 3 nights lapping up the beauty of the Whitsundays including sailing on an 85-foot catamaran for our 2nd wedding anniversary. Some pics are available here.
Noosa and Fraser Island (Oz) (28th March - 4th April)
One of the favourite parts of our Aus experience to date - Noosa and Fraser Island. We chilled out in beautiful Noosa for 4 days, then headed off to Fraser Island for lots of 4X4, lake and beach fun! Managed to meet a cheeky dingo or two on our travels. Some great pics can be seen here.
Surfers Paradise to Australia Zoo (Oz) (27th - 28th March)

Franz Josef & Fox Glaciers (NZ) (28th - 29th Feb)
And then...the glaciers in all their glory. We didnt get to helihike because of the weather, but we did get to walk to the terminal face of each glacier. Cool. Pics can be seen here.
Wanaka (NZ) (25th - 28th Feb)
We left the fjordland to head towards the much anticipated Lake Wanaka. It is a beautiful town and our campsite had a brilliant setting. Our pics can be seen here.

Queenstown (NZ) (21st - 23rd Feb)

And so on to Queenstown...where we fuelled our adrenaline hunger with whitewater rafting and gokarting down the luge! Some cool pics are available here.
Lake Tekapo (NZ) (19th - 21st Feb)
We found an amazing spot on the side of Lake Tekapo to spend a few days. We even swam in the lake. Awesome pics can be seen here.
Akaroa (NZ) (17th - 19th Feb)
From Kaikoura we headed to Christchurch where we collected "Larry" our campervan. We then headed straight on to Akaroa to find some dolphins to swim with. Unfortunately the dolphins didn't want to come and play with us so we left Akaroa slightly forlorn but with an idea of coming back towards the end of our NZ travels.
Pics of the area can be seen here
Kaikoura (NZ) (14th - 16th Feb)
After Abel Tasman we headed south east to Kaikoura to see some whales - that's the animal, not the country!
Pics can be seen here.
And a video of Little Nick heading down under can be seen below:

Abel Tasman National Park (NZ) (12th - 14th Feb)
After a glorious time at Lake Taupo, we headed south to Wellington in order to catch the ferry to Picton. A lovely calm crossing was followed by a massive downpour as we collected our rental car. The rain stopped as quickly as it started and we drove on through to the Abel Tasman National Park via Nelson and a few other towns.
We found a lovely BnB for the next two nights and then explored the Park and the waters. It was brilliant!! Pics can be seen here.

Bay of Islands (NZ) (5th - 7th Feb)
After the city of Auckland, we headed Northwest to the idyllic Bay of Islands to a little resort called Paihia. Unbeknown to us, it was Waitangi Day on the 6th Feb so we were able to absorb a bit of Maori culture and history as well as enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. Some pics can be seen here.
Sunday, 10 February 2008
Auckland (NZ) (3rd - 5th Feb)
And so we arrived in New Zealand...
An enjoyable two days were spent perusing all that Auckland had to offer... The Sky Tower, a Harbour cruise, a ferry to Devonport, chilling at the waterfront (eating and drinking) and the obligatory photo of Eden Park Rugby Stadium. All our Auckland photos can be seen here. :o)

At last ... Hollywood (30th Jan - 1st Feb)
After the snow of Whistler, comes the cheese of Hollywood. We experienced the sights and smells and sounds of LA and Hollywood. Photos are available here. A real cheesy tour of celebs houses and Hollywood sights had to be done. We even saw a real famous person!

The travels begin - Whistler (20th - 30th Jan)
And so after months and months of planning and booking and rearranging and packing, we have left the rainy shores of England and headed West to snowy Whistler.
And what a beautiful place it is! The photo above is taken on the slopes of the Blackcomb mountain with the sun lighting up the village of Whistler below. See some more pics of our Whistler experience here
