I can blog from my phone

I heard the rumour, then I read the facts and its all true. Of course some people have been doing it for ages but at last I have jumped on the bandwagon (and possibly the geekwagon) but there you have it. I can now send an email from my phone and it will appear on my blog. How cool is that? Why I will ever want to do that I dont know - but hey , Im a bloke - thats what we do!

Pasta

Ok - so my 48 hours lasted a little longer than the average. But now in all its glory are pics of ITALY. What a great holiday it was. We flew into Naples and took a bus to Sant'Agnello. Stayed at Hotel Caravel - I certainly recommend it. Great service!
Very relaxing holiday. I read a very entertaining british novel about a detective based in London investigating a series of murders in Dorset and London. But I cant remember the name of the book or author. Aish. I wish I could. Any ideas?

Wedding prep - its all begun YIPPEE

Weddings are not simple matters.
Last Friday my fiance went into the big city (with all the bright lights) accompanied by her 3 bridesmaids - well one is officially a maid of honour, but thats another story altogether.
They spent the day looking at and trying on wedding dresses in order to find the perfect one which will make me smile on the big day! Apparently they have found it.
Which is pretty good going to find the perfect dress on the first day of serious looking.
This is EXCITING!!
And that was just the beginning of the weekend...
We watched Saturday Night Fever on Friday night - which really should spell trouble already. The dancing was superb but not knowing the songs I didnt really feel like jumping up and dancing along with the cast during the finale. Mind you , it didnt stop half the audience shaking their booties.

Saturday was spent beating another cricket team, watching SA beat Aus (again) at rugby and driving to Cambridge.

Possible venues include Quy Mill Hotel and Chilford Hall. Let me know what you think!

For better...

Friday 15th July 2005 - I proposed to the lovely Fiona Ramsay and we are now engaged to be married.
Hopefully in the first half of 2006 if all goes well.
Thank you to all the kind wishes from friends and family.
We are pretty chuffed to say the least.

The weekend that was

It was a weekend of ups and downs ending with an up at least. Golf game on Friday afternoon was also one of ups and downs with the rain coming down and our scores going up. Although I did manage a few pars on both 9's.

Cricket game on Saturday was a big downer - 44 all out! And I got a duck! No comment.

At least the All Blacks won their 1st test against the Lions but in a fashion which I feel wont be looked favourably upon. Especially the way BoD the god was treated! The boks won against France in surprisingly convincing style. Was that really the best French team on display. SA was good!

Saturday night was fun although night clubs arent my thing. I think a change of music would suit my aging ears.

Sunday's surprise birthday party in Green Park was a roaring success and Jez was suitably surprised and embarrassed!

The weekend awaits...

It all starts in about 45 minutes. Thats when I can go home. Half day Fridays are a gift from God. He is nice that way. Playing golf this afternoon, although I suspect some much needed downpours may affect the game somewhat. Cricket scheduled for Sat afternoon although before that there is a BIG game on telly to watch. No- im not talking about the WP v Free State game tonight although it will be good to see the boys have a run around in the cold Bloem air. No - Im talking about the first test between the All Blacks and the Lions. Should be a cracker! Will be very interesting to see Wilkinson at inside centre. Hmmmmm.
Then Saturday night is our long awaited annual "Liquid" ball.
Liquid is the name of our young adult group at church. Its a masked ball which could prove very interesting if I know some of the guys going along.
Sunday is a surprise birthday bash but I wont tell you who its for in case you spill the beans...

Is it me?

Well - another amazing story reported in todays metro newspaper. A school in Dorset wants to ban girls from wearing skirts and a mother was up in arms because trousers are "unhealthy". Oh my word - no wonder so many blokes have regular sick days. Its all the trousers we are wearing!
is it me?

Desperate times call for desperate measures

A rather gruesome story about a stowaway on an SAA flight from JHB to New York
I guess it shows how desperate people are to get out of their current situation. It certainly puts my little "problems" into perspective!
My heart goes out to that persons family (if he/she had some)

What is the world coming to?

I read on the back page of Computing that a pressure group is suggesting all UK prisoners NEED universal internet access to make sure they get the most of online educational resources.
What? Excuse me? Sorry!
I thought they were prisoners. And then the government wonders why companies shift jobs to cheaper countries when we are wasting money on things like this... only my opinion of course.

Whats the point?

On the way to work this morning I drove past a council "worker" who had strapped to his back what can only be described as a JETPAK. And in his arms he was holding a large protrudence which I guess can be called a "blower". There this guy was walking down the sidewalk blowing air on to the ground - blowing all loose things (grass cuttings, leaves, litter) a little further down the sidewalk and of course out of his own way. How odd! I thought to myself - thats really wierd and seems quite pointless. It reminded me of my job!

to Saffers in April

A celebration for my folks and a chance to show Fi (my girlfriend) some warmer climates and the beauty of SA - as if she needed convincing - we jetted off to Cape Town in April 2005. After spending 2 nights there we headed along the Garden Route to East London, stopping at a few places along the way. Oh the interesting sights we saw along the way - its nice in Knysna!
After a few days in EL with the folks we headed to Gauteng to see the "kykdaars" in their natural habitat and to see the gold of Sun City and the "wild" animals in the Pilanesberg. The rhino and elephant stories will live longer than most.
Pictures to prove some of these stories can be seen here

lost again

Played cricket this afternoon - lost again!!
but at least I got 3 wickets and broke someone's nose - fair enough
:o)

small beginnings

So this is how it all starts - not with a bang and barely a whimper. Sat morning watching the Super 12 final with an air of "i dont care who wins as long as the ref has a good game" - you know what I mean.
